Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp: PANAMARENKO UNIVERSUM
The exhibition “Panamarenko Universum” provides a fascinating overview of the most important vehicles and objects which the Antwerp artist created. Besides these masterpieces the exhibition also focuses on Panamarenko’s actions in the broadest sense of the word, with his “happening” period – from the occupation of Conscienceplein square to his bold attempt to fly to Sonsbeek in the Netherlands with a zeppelin -, his nature and scientific insights and artistic statements. For the first time an exhibition will zoom in on the artist’s sources of inspiration. "Panamarenko Universum" highlights the versatility and the depth of this inspired artist and magician. This ambitious retrospective reveals the backbone of his body of work as well as providing an insight to the artistic process, with documents, films, drawings, editions and sketches.
